+ Thank you to my partner Jenna for this candid sanding shot.
Hey there,
My name is Brandon Adriano Ortiz
I am a member of the Taos Pueblo community and a member of the interconnected web that is northern New Mexico heritage. I am a recent graduate of the Master of Architecture program at the University of New Mexico SAAP and a part-time traditional micaceous potter.
Micaceous Pottery
I started ceramics on a whim and it has become such a central part of who I am. A teacher and a friend, it has guided me through stresses and into places I could have never dreamed. The clay is a teacher of patience, loss, and communication - it has changed the way in which I view the world and the way I live in it. These reflections are put into each pot and I hope that they bring as much joy into their future homes as they have into mine.
Architecture
Architecture to me should similarly be a process of communication with the world around us. A reaction to seasonal shifts and our needs within them. I believe the built environment affects each of us in ways too numerous to understand and that the placemaking inherent in architectural design has the potential to connect us back closer to place. It is my dream to create spaces in which we can remember our many relations to where we are.
Thank you to everyone who has supported me on this journey!
